About Dr. Smith
Dr. Smith (formerly Dr. Ahn) began practicing dentistry in 2007 after completing her training and attaining the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry. Dr. Smith was accepted into a highly competitive program at UIC which reserved her a seat in UIC’s College of Dentistry just after high school upon attending and maintaining a high GPA during her undergraduate studies at UIC. Dr. Smith graduated from UIC’s Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 3 years.
After completing her D.D.S. degree, Dr. Smith relocated to the Los Angeles area and worked in private practice from 2007 to 2011. During this time, she grew to enjoy the cosmetic side of dentistry, including experiences working with actors in the entertainment industry. Dr. Smith also spent time working and volunteering at the Los Angeles Christian Health Center where she was able to provide dental care to the underserved population there. In 2012, she returned to her hometown of Chicago to work at Lawndale Christian Health Center for five years. She embraced Lawndale’s mission of “Loving God, and Loving People” while also serving as UIC’s adjunct clinical professor for fourth-year dental students rotating through Lawndale’s clinic. Following her time at Lawndale, Dr. Smith provided dental services to seniors and elementary school students in the south suburbs of Chicago before resuming dental care in private practice in downtown Phoenix after relocating to Arizona with her family.
Dr. Smith joins our team here at Pristine Dental with a broad scope of clinical and teaching experience including cosmetic focused procedures like veneers, Invisalign, bonding, and smile design, but also crowns, implant crowns, bridges, extractions, partials and full dentures. She has also performed extensive dental work for the homeless and underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad for short-term missions trips. In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys traveling, jazz music, outdoor recreation, and spending time with her family and friends
